part 3: Glasgow: Sisters, Skii and Snow

we had to leave for Glasgow. we start the journey at about 9am. i had the chance to call home that morning. so i spend about £3 for a phone call home.

the destination was Furqan Mosque in Glasgow. the deal was bus ride to London. then take the tube to Heathrow. then took a flight to Edinburgh. from Edinburgh airport, took the bus to the city centre and from there..get a bus to Glasgow..and from the Bus Station took a taxi to the Mosque. all in all, it took nearly 12hours to complete that journey. mentally n physically drained!

Menyusuri Jejak Generasi Al-Quran or in English, In The Footsteps of Quranic Generation. that was the theme for the winter gathering. it was hosted by Majlis Syura Muslimum. i was so suprised to see that it wasnt just attended by those in the UK and Ireland..but some came all the way from Germany and even from Canada! unlike while we were in BTN.. the 6 of us stick together all through the programme. literally glued together. dont blame us. we sleep next to each other. were put in the same group [i think it was a consipiracy..ehek!], eat from the same tray [pengalaman makan dalam talam.. ehek ..slalu makan dalam kuali jer]. we make friends with fellow group members Hawa, Liyana and Ain from Atlantic College in Wales..and also Sakinah from Cardiff. and our cute and sweet fasi Kak Ju from Soton. not to forget, everyone else we make friends with. ramai sangat!! and everyone sangat2 best!!seperti biasa.. budak2 plymouth will steal everyone's attention without we wanting it to be like that or not. ohh our group, Ummu Salamah, was announced as the best group!! im not sure why.. we thought it was bcos we eat more than other ppl, we sleep more than other ppl, we arrived late almost every day. we sit there and be quiet till its makan time! ehek.. and i thought if the sisterhood they based their judgement on... it would not be fair bcos 6 of us are one and to love Hawa, Liyana, Ain, Sakinah and Kak Ju as a sister didnt take a muscle or sweat. if the explorace activity was the main reason, all of us have adequate training as traveller and map reading. and the questions asked during the race. yup we answered it all correctly.. we strike the balanced between todays' entertainment world and islamic history.. general issues... and world facts. talk about multiple intelligences..ehek..!

i was there for a reason..the skii trip! as what laylee said..other sisters tak putus2 mengingatkan kitaorg semua untuk membetulkan niat. at first i was like..'big deal!'..but i was lucky enough to actually give it a thought. anyway.. the skii trip was awesome!! although i spend 3/4 of the time of the lesson either sitting on the snow or stand stationary with the skii slade on.. i had a hell of a time! i can still feel the adrenalin rushing through my veins when i first slide down the slope.. i can still remember how i decide to fall or not to fall.. at that moment, just one thing on my mind..if i dont make my self fall down how am i going to stop? the '2 chips' and '1 pizza' trick did not work for me! while all the sisters were trying superbly hard to skii..there were 2 unidentified brothers from next door slope..came macho-ly.. invading our slope and slide down.. happen to be we are at the top of the slope and were one of the first who realise their invasion. ohh!! terlalu lalu lalu berlagak!!! tau la diaorg terror..tapi tak perlu la jadi terrorist dgn menginvade slope kitaorg kan???? but they are lucky not to fall down infront of us!!! kalau jatuh tu...fuyoooo!! aku rasa terbenam kot muka dlm salji tu!!!hehe.. and another experience worth putting on my top 5 praying experience! this one goes straight to number one! pray on the snow!! that means..semayang kat parking lot telah jatuh ke tempat kedua! ehek..

on the way home.. it was snowing. tapi yg bestnya.. kluar gelap..balik pun dah gelap! padahal adalah 3 jam je kot kat skii resort tu! Glasgow was snowing.. it was soo nice. we actually took the chance to play snowball fight. apa lagi...sambung la perang snowball yg tak abis dulu!superbly best!! we attacked and defend each other.. and used all the cars park along the roadside as our kubu! i took the chance to make my own snowman. kecik jer..tak comel cam snowmak n snowson pun!! like most excitement and happiness, this one was short lived as well..

the experience was superb. i totally love it.. totally will recommend it to our juniors!! pegi korang oi... best!! i went to a few kem ibadah before.. but this one really struck to the heart weh! too bad this is our first and last winter gathering..

we stayed behind for another 2 nights.. my new year was as usual. i never had anything special on new years eve. i usually just stayed home.. curl under my blanket with a good book. and this year it was just a bit different. i was in a mosque....still with a book, but in the sleeping bag.

on new year day..we went out to check what glasgow actually looks like. we found Glasgow Uni.. it looks nice. it was too cold for me to be bothered! grrrrr.... jomla balik guys!!

on the 2nd of January 2006.. we are off to Edinburgh.

*to be continued- part4: Edinburgh: 2 and a half...
